What is Filebase and How do you use it?

Objective: Explain where to get Filebase and show how to use it.

To get started using Filebase you will go to filebase.gamedevhq.com .

At the top of the screen you will select Download Plugin and once the page loads click Download now on the version you need.

Once it is downloaded, drag into you Project. A window will appear. Click on Import on the bottom right of the window, this will import the plugin.

Now that it is done importing, you can go to the top of the Unity window and between ‘Component’ and ‘Window’ there is Filebase. You can click that or on your keyboard hit “`” to open Filebase.

Filebase will open up, here you can search for and download assets. Though most assets will require you to be a pro member. If you go back to filebase.gamedevhq.com, on signup it will talk about the price.

In the top right corner of the filebase window is a place to log in.

To download an asset, search for it and once you find it select it. I am going to download Scifi Floors as shown above.

Once you select your asset, it’ll open a new page. Select Download. Sometimes it will ask you to log in, if it does login and re-select Download. It will load and then ask to Import. Here you can select exactly what you want imported. As seen in the above GIF, I imported every thing.

Now that it has imported the assets, you can close Filebase and go back into your project and see the new assets. Now all that is left for you to do is take the asset’s into the scene and create your levels!

Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day!
