Setting Up the Quest for Development
Objective: Set the Quest up for Development
To get started with developing for the Quest or VR in general we will need to download the Right software. This is if you are using the Meta Quest headset. The software can be downloaded from here: https://www.meta.com/jp/en/quest/setup/
Under Google Play and App Store there is Air Link and Link Cable section, download that software.
After the setup finish downloading, go though the steps and install. When it’s done installing, it’ll ask you to create an account or log in with an existing one. You can choose what you would like. Once logged in, choose a location for games that you download from the Rift software.
Select the headset that will be used.
Next, pick how you would want the Quest to interact with the software. Want to do it over WiFi pick Air Link. Want to have long lasting sessions without worrying about battery life, pick Link(Cable). This will charge the battery as you develop.
Connect the headset for the software to fine.
You can test the cable if you would like.
You are done, one of the final steps that need to be done is once the program opens head to Settings under General, make sure Unknown Sources is checked.
Under Beta Check Developer Runtime Features.
Inside the Headset you may need to allow the cable to connect. And with that our headset is now ready to develop in! Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day!!
