Day 98: Character Animation Part 1

Objective: Download Animation and add to character.

We have added our model to the project, now it is time to start adding a Idle animation. To start off we will go to a free animation site called Mixamo.com . You will need to log in.

In this page you can upload your current model if you select Upload Character. We wont go to deep in to this for today’s article.

On the left page we will search for our animation. At the top you can search Idle.

I have selected the Offensive Idle animation. On the right now click download and make sure Format is FBX for Unity(.fbx). After making sure just download again.

Once it downloads just drag into Unity.

After it is in the Project, select the animation Parent and on the right hand side under Rig, set the animation type to Humanoid.

Next we will duplicate the Idle Animation and move it to the Animation Folder.

Now that we have the animations set up, tomorrow we will cover how to add it to the character to run the animation and the model will copy it.

Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day!!
