Aiming Features in Cinemachine
Objective: Cover the Aiming feature.
When you add a virtual camera to the scene, by default Aim is set to Composer.
With Composer set, you will need to assign a target for the camera to aim at.
Composer has multiple settings that can be adjusted. The Lookahead section will guess where the target is headed and will move the camera in that direction for smoother movement.
Next section to look at is the Dead Zone and Soft Zone section. The Dead Zone is the area that the camera wont move until the edge of the Dead zone is hit and then slowly moves to center the target again. But the Soft Zone is the area if touched it’ll try its best to center right away.
This can be seen in the camera if the Game Window Guides is on. Blue is the dead zone and red is the soft zone.
If you set the Aim to Same As Follow Target, it’ll follow exactly as the Follow does. You can up the damping to adjust the movement of the camera.
Another good one is setting your Aim to POV. This setting will make it look as if it’s from your own eyes. Where ever your mouse goes is where the camera will look.
Another option for Aim is Hard Look At. This setting has no options to change but will keep the target at the center of the screen.
This is a little guide on the Aim of cinemachine virtual camera. Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day!
