My first introduction to game programming was back in 2007. This was thanks to RuneScape private servers. I wanted to create a server that was fun and enjoyable by all who loved RuneScape, but not the grind. I tried to learn but could never grasp coding. Since I couldn’t understand how to program correctly, so I gave up.
In 2018, a co-worker of mine told me about RPG Maker MV. We decided to try and come up with a game together. Trying to make a game with RPG Maker MV felt very restricted. Therefore, I asked around for a good programming language that was good for games. Someone told me about Jabrils C#/Python tutorial videos. I watched all of them focused on C#. He showed some videos with Unity. Thankfully, due to watching some of his videos I was introduced to Brackeys and Jason Weimann.

My first attempt at a Brackeys Game Jam.

This was the start of a new hobby! I followed a lot of their videos and tried to learn. I got some things down but not enough to feel confident in my skills. One weekend I joined Brackeys game jam and failed. While making the game, I realized I did not know a lot. I was not able to complete within the time allowed. So, instead of one week, it took me three months to complete.

After this I lost motivation for a little but gained it back. But I got back up and found GameDevHq. I love watching the “MadeWithUnity” videos. This brought the motivation back and when I found GameDevHq had a course. With GameDevHq, I started a full forward charge into learning on how to become a Unity Developer, and if you want to, you can follow me on this new journey!
